Dallas EEG

Today was Dallas' EEG. He needed to be very tried so he would take a nap for them. So when I picked him up from school I took him to Monkey Joes, an awesome indoor place that is full of bounce houses and slides. He had a blast of course! He loved bouncing and sliding so this is like paradise for him. If they had a swing it would be heaven! So for 2 hours he ran around, making friends with any child that came his way. He 's so friendly and talkative to everyone he meets. The child knows no stranger. Afterward we headed to the office for the EEG. The office is right next to Universal Studios and he loves standing there and watching the Dueling Dragon rollercoaster go and listening to everyone scream. At least there's some sort of treat for going to Dr Kojic's office! I never told him what we were doing. Anticipation makes things very difficult for him, so it's better to just not even tell him. When we got in the room the lady put on the movie Lightening McQuinn for him and told him she was going to make him a helmet just like him. Dallas liked this idea. He was nervous at first and resisting her but once the movie was on he was in a zone. She was able to get all 23 of the probes (I guess that's what you would call them) on his head. And then she wrapped his head in gauze (the helmet) for them to stay in place. It's amazing out not phased by it he was. He was wonderful. Then she told him we are going to play a game and if he does them all she has a prize at the end. He had to open and close his eyes several times. Then he had to blow on a pinwheel for a couple of minutes. Then she had the strobe light flash. The it was time for the big test. He had to "pretend" he was sleeping for 6 minutes. He laiddown, she turned the movie off and the lights off. He laid there for about 30 seconds and he was done with this game. As a threat the lady said, "Do you want me to send Mommy out." Dallas answered, "Yes." LOL She said of 1400 patients she's had this year he's only the 2nd one that wanted mommy to leave. He feel right asleep after I left the room. Go figure! The biggest problem arose when she came out to get me after about 10 minutes to wake him up. Oh my goodness! He was dead to the world and when I finally got him awake he was NOT happy! We finally got all the probes off and she went to get him his prize, a blue lollipop. This made him happy and mommy even had a special prize, a circus train from the dollar store. Thank goodness that test is over with!!!!
