Happy Veteran's Day

I had all intentions of video recording Boston saying the Pledge of Allegiance and posting it on here but never got around to it. First I want to say thank you to all the veterans who have fought for our freedom. Your work will never go unnoticed. Especially thank you to my own dad who served in the US Army and was in Vietnam for two terms. What a hero he is to his family and friends, and especially his grandsons. He is the "coolest" for flying helicoptors and rescuing other soldiers. Thanks dad!!!

The Ice Cream Truck

Today a wonderful thing happend. The ice cream truck actually came to our neighborhood. Sean and I have often talked about how we wish that would happen sometime to us. We remember fond memories of the ice cream truck growing up. For me I only saw it when I visited my grandma in Tampa. Sean only remembers it when he was young and lived in Boston. But today, while playing in the front yard, we heard a very familiar sound. It was the singing song of the ICE CREAM TRUCK! We paniced, do we have cash....we never have cash! But we actually did. So I ran and got the camera and captured this moment forever. Boston got a spiderman once and Dallas and Turtle one. They were so excited about their choice. So we sat, after a day of yard work and playing, and enjoyed an nice, cold ice cream.

Today we took the boat with my parents to see Thomas again. Didn't ride the train this time, but still had a great time. The Whitman boys can never get enough trains!

This will be our 6th visit to see Thomas the Train. He comes to Tavares twice a year and it's only about 5 minutes from my parents lakehouse. The boys can hear and see the train from their house. This year my friend Carrie and her two kids, Luke and Abby joined us. We had such a great time! We actually showed up right as they were shutting everything down, which was great because all the crowds were gone and we had everything to ourselves. Then Carrie, Luke and Abby came back to the lakehouse and we played on the beach and had dinner together. My kids play great with hers, they are all very ACTIVE children. We look forward to playing with them more often. Oh, and, Carrie brought the most unbelieveable cupcakes from a bakery in Winter Park. I'll have to get the name and post it on here. AWESOME!! Thanks again Carrie for coming out with us!!

Mowing the lawn with daddy

The boys love it when Sean mows the lawn. The little things in life that thrill a toddler and a preschooler. As you can see, they have their own lawn mowers and they push them around the lawn so they can be just like daddy!

Look Mommy...a caterpillar!

Val brought Ally and Aaron over this morning to take some pictures in our "Fall scene" in front of our house. While I was talking to her the boys found this caterpillar in the front yard. They were very proud of their "find." Boys will be boys!

The other day Sean got some things in the mail and the boxes were at the front door. I soon found the boys had made their own rollercoaster out of them. What imagination they have!

TJ's Birthday Party

Today we went to a birthday party for Dallas and Boston's little friend TJ. It was a Hummer party and the boys had such a great time! They were so excited about giving him his gift, a remote control car they had picked out. They put a lot of thought into picking the "perfect" gift when we are shopping. I think Boston was more excited about giving him the gift then he was about opening his own at his party. LOL The boys also colored paper to wrap the gift in and put a hummer toy on the top. So cute. The older the boys get, the more fun the birthday partys become because you so the excitement throw their little eyes. Happy 3rd birthday TJ and thanks for inviting us!

The Great Pumpkin

Who's heard of The Great Pumpkin? Well this is a new tradtion we are starting this year in our house. After the kids got all their treats they went threw them all, picked out their favorites and put them in a zip lock bag. The rest they put back in their pumpkin bags at the front door for The Great Pumpkin to come collect. (I would have probably put them on a fireplace but we don't have one.) This morning when they woke up they had a gift (they got a Leapster Gaming unit so they can play their portable games on the TV) and they each got a electric Spiderman toothbrush (appropriate right??) And The Great Pumpkin left them a note saying thank you for the candy and he'll see them next year. Oh the excitement when they found this at the door with empty pumpkins! I don't usually let the kids have candy, only on special occasions, so I thought this might be a good way to lessen the effect of the massive amounts of candy they recieve. I'm sure they will catch on about the same time they figure out Santa and the Easter Bunny aren't real, but hey, at least they won't have as many cavities until then!

They funny thing was having Boston ask 20 questions on the way home about The Great Pumpkin. He wanted to know if he's just a man in a costume or real....boy is he smart! And he wanted to know where he lives...Pumpkinland of course (quick thinking!) He wanted to know how he gets to our house, what he sleeps in, does anyone live there with him, what he likes to do, does he eat the candy, does he have hands and feet, does he walk, pumpkins can't walk mom!, and on and on. The only one that really stumpped me was how he gets here, so I told him to ask daddy. I couldn't decide whether he should fly or ride in something. He forgot so I'll have to figure out that answer before next year. But this year it was a great success! Ya for The Great Pumpkin (and the awesome stash of candy for Mommy and Daddy to escape to in times of need!) And yes, I had all intentions of wrapping the gift and decorating it with pumpkins, but at 9:30pm last night this mommy was so tired the best I could do was reuse an old baby

gift bag. At least at this age they didn't know any difference. I'll have to be a little more creative next year!
